Three supporters of open government data testified this week in favor of the Open Data Policy currently being considered by the Maryland state senate.
- Colin Drane, CEO of SpotCrime.com
- Beth Blauer of Socrata, whose software is used by the City of Baltimore to power its open data portal
- Rebecca Williams of the Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit Sunlight Foundation, which advocates for open data and government transparency

As Technical.ly Baltimore reported in January, the Open Data Policy is being pushed by Sen. Bill Ferguson from Baltimore. If the Open Data Policy is voted into law, Ferguson said it will be Maryland’s “first formalized step towards an open data regime.”
