51% of consumers know what 4G means, but 71% plan to buy 4G device

Marketed as the next generation of wireless communication, 4G LTE provides laptops, tablet PCs, smartphones and USB wireless modems mobile ultra-broadband Internet access. Basically, this technology was developed to increase the capacity and speed of wireless data networks via a new DSP or digital signal processing. A lot of people want it, but not as many know what it means.

Geography of Hate: mapping racist and homophobic tweets

More than 150,000 geocoded tweets sent between June 2012 and April 2013 were analyzed by a team of students at Humboldt State University in California to produce the Geography of Hate heatmap, which uses the Google Maps API to categorize from what counties in the U.S. homophobic and racist tweets are sent, as well as tweets disparaging people with physical disabilities.

The stories that people shared with me were touching, amusing and insightful: a teenage music prodigy with a traumatic brain injury, a successful stand-up comedian with cerebral palsy, an employment agency that specializes in finding jobs for workers with autism. By writing this book, I’ve hoped to connect these anecdotes to the premise that inclusive design can serve as a vehicle for innovation.
