DreamIt Health announces its inaugural class [Startup Roundup]

WHO’S GETTING FUNDED?

First Round Capital’s Dorm Room Fund invested an undisclosed amount in Dagne Dover, a Brooklyn-based handbag and accessories retailer, the New York Times reported in a recent feature on the student-run investment fund. Dagne Dover cofounder Deepa Gandhi is a Wharton MBA student.

First Round Capital announced participation in two investments this week, including a $5 million round for Palo Alto, Calif.-based food delivery service EAT and a $9.1 million round for Boston-area coupon service SavingStar.

Comcast Ventures co-led a $30 million round for Silicon Valley-based Youtube network Fullscreen, AllThingsD reported.

ZumiCare, a babysitter service based in Southwest Center City that has yet to launch, raised $5,000, according to an SEC filing.

King of Prussia-based company Green Power Technologies raised $250,000, according to an SEC filing. Its product, Bert, allows users to power down homes, businesses and devices at scheduled times.

WHO’S MAKING MOVES?

South Jersey crossfit app Wodify announced winners of its national crossfit contest, according to the startup’s blog.

DreamIt Health announced the inaugural class for its four-month health-focused accelerator. The ten startups include Fitly, a service that uses gamification to encourage healthy eating, Grand Round Table, a service that uses data to help doctors make diagnoses and Medlio, a “virtual health insurance card in the form of a mobile app.” Find the full list of startups here. OneTwoSee, the Center City social TV companion, launched a partnership with Canadian sports channel TSN. It’s OneTwoSee’s second Canadian launch, the first being an NHL app with the Montreal Gazette, said cofounder Chris Reynolds.

Several national outlets have covered ElectNext‘s recent funding announcement and “political baseball card” product launch, like VentureBeat and TechCrunch.

Safeguard Scientifics and Ardmore PR firm Gregory FCA are looking for the “Best Unknown Business in America,” the Philadelphia Business Journal reported. Apply by June 18.

Couponing app SnipSnap had to cancel a social media contest after only one week because of fraudulent entries, according to its blog.
