To be sure, saying your late-night gadget use is keeping you awake is news of the tautological.

But an infographic from OnlinePsychologyDegree.net reveals how using your iPhone (or other backlit handheld or tablet device) right before you try to go to sleep is damaging your sleep cycle.

According to the infographic, a “two-hour exposure to light from electronic displays suppresses melatonin by 22 percent.” Melatonin is the hormone in your body that regulates your sleep cycles, and helps your body get to sleep.

Yet, according to OnlinePsychologyDegree.net’s survey, 95 percent of people text, browse the Internet or watch TV just before hitting the sack.

We know entrepreneurs work around the clock, but we implore you: turn off the iPhone, and go to bed.
