In another win for the Sustainability Workshop, United Technologies recently donated $30,000 to the alternative senior year program, according to a release.

Based in the Navy Yard, the Sustainability Workshop has gotten plenty of national press, including features in PBS’s Frontline and CNN. The program is a spin off of West Philly High’s Hybrid X team, who built a hybrid sports car as part of a national competition. Though they didn’t win, they made it to the semi-finals and were the only high schoolers to compete.

United Technologies is a manufacturer of “everything from jet engines to helicopters, air conditioners and elevators,” according to the release, and is based in Berwyn, Pa.
