Here are 19 Philly companies exhibiting at SXSW 2017

It’s all coming together for Philly’s second-annual presence at South by Southwest (SXSW) 2017.

Led by the effort called Amplify Philly, 19 companies have signed on to exhibit at Austin’s weeklong megaconference, backed by a war chest of $140,000 from 15 sponsors.

“We’re honored and excited to bring together such a diverse group of people and industries to represent Philadelphia down at SXSW,” said Philly Startup Leaders’ Yuval Yarden, who also runs Amplify. “Philadelphians are constantly talking about raising our national presence, and Amplify Philly is the platform that helps us and our partners put our money where our mouth is and begin to work towards that goal.”

Here’s the roundup of companies headed to the festival as exhibitors (many of which received grants from the initiative to cover exhibitor’s fees). Most of are affiliated with Amplify Philly but not all. Let us know if you’re going and we missed you — we’ll likely do an updated list in a few weeks.

Alongside REC Philly’s David Silver, Yarden was in charge of rounding up the funds to make Philly’s SXSW splash happen.

“Two young people asking some of the largest brands in our city for money was a challenge, but one we were really excited to tackle,” Yarden said. “The future of Philadelphia is in our hands, so why not start now?”

Mayor Jim Kenney is also slated to attend The United States Conference of Mayors track during the opening weekend of the festival, happening March 10-12.
