This is a guest post by ChickTech Philadelphia's Sarah Herrmann.

I recently joined the nonprofit, ChickTech as the communications director for their brand new Philadelphia chapter and we are hosting our first event tonight, Oct. 13, at coworking space Benjamin’s Desk in Rittenhouse Square at 6 p.m.
We are launching a four-part career series to help women navigate and advance their careers in IT. This event is geared at bringing women together for the purpose of learning from one another’s experiences. We will also have special guest attendees who work in human resources and recruiting who will be there to answer your questions about the application and interview process as well as to offer advice about marketing yourself for the job you want.
RSVP
Our special guests include:

  • Amanda Elefante, Director, People Operations, HealthVerity
  • Beth Perkins, Talent Acquisition Manager, Delphic Digital
  • Dorothy O’Hara, VP of Human Resources, InfoMC
  • Rebecca Scuderi, Recruiting Coordinator, RevZilla

There will be light fare, drinks and of course, lots of networking.
ChickTech is a nonprofit founded in 2011 in Portland, Ore. by consultant Janice Levenhagen-Seeley with the mission to retain women in the technology workforce and increase the number of women and girls pursing technology-based careers. We facilitate hands-on technology-centric events to empower, support, and increase the confidence of women and girls.
As a new chapter, ChickTech Philly is looking to provide a supportive and safe group for women to meet other female techies and create a network of empowerment. Adrienne Hubbard, a former Comcast Cable account exec based in Bear, Del., is our chapter director.
What makes us different? From high school workshops to getting advice on technical interviewing, our programs build community, empower participants to see themselves as technologists and leaders and provide networking and mentoring opportunities in the rapidly growing tech industry.
ChickTech Philly is looking for sponsors and volunteers! For more information, please reach out to me at Sarah.Herrmann@chicktech.org to get involved.
