These 15 Philly tech jobs caught our eye this week

We are constantly wishing for a :raised eyebrows: emoji.

You know, one you’d use to express interest. Or intrigue. That’s how we felt when we stumbled upon the iOS engineer job listing for Copycat, a new edtech startup. The design on the landing page is slick (though it appears to be old, as it says that the app is launching fall 2015) and, according to the website, the team is composed of three technologists we hadn’t met yet, including CEO Stevie Henry, who’s getting her Ph.D. at Brown and “whose idea of fun is reciting Virgil on a remote mountain,” and CTO Gabriel Otte, whose bio says he helped build the iPhone as a teenager.
We don’t know anything more about Copycat than what we saw on their website and the job listing, but we do plan on following up. :raised eyebrows:
Oh, and just for the record: these are jobs that look interesting to us and feel newsworthy — that’s it. We’re not endorsing them. We can’t say for sure, it goes without saying, if it’ll be the right fit for you or if the place will make you happy.

Oncora Medical is a DreamIt Health startup that aims to improve cancer treatment (radiation, specifically) and they’re hiring for a few roles, including a UX and data visualization developer. The company is helmed by Penn Ph.D./M.D. David Lindsay (yep, that is a doozy of a degree) and they just got an office at City CoHo with plenty of natural light. Don’t worry if you don’t know much about oncology: when we stopped by Oncora’s new office earlier this month, Lindsay was giving a crash course to an intern. He promised to give us one next time.

Join the folks at Picwell who are angling to be the “Moneyball of the insurance world.” They’re hiring a data engineer and a data scientist, among other jobs. We hear the venture-backed company is going to have shuffleboard and bowling in their new office, too.
Remember how Penn is opening an enormous coworking space in Grays Ferry site and how Benjamin’s Desk is running it? Well, they’re hiring a community manager and a managing director for the space. With all the new coworking spaces opening up, seems like community managers are gonna be in high demand this year.
Help build a digital audience for Philly.com and the city’s two daily papers, the Inky and the Daily News. They’re hiring a digital audience analyst. Philadelphia Media Network, the parent company for the three news outlets, recently announced a new ownership structure. It’s kind of convoluted but our cousin site Generocity broke it down very well.
The School District is hiring someone to run integrated learning, which basically means you’d set the vision for how technology should be incorporated into the classroom. Sounds like a really important gig to us.
Lastly, we found this one on the Philly Dev Slack: Penn Medicine is hiring data engineers and data scientists to work on their predictive analytics platform, which Information Week described as Penn “using big data to save lives.”
