Founder Elliot Menschik out at DreamIt Health, Steve Barsh to take over

After nearly three years at DreamIt, Menschik wants to work at a startup again.

Elliot Menschik has left his managing director role at DreamIt Health, the DreamIt Ventures health IT accelerator he founded nearly three years ago. Steve Barsh, DreamIt’s former managing partner, will run DreamIt Health.
Menschik, who also cofounded coworking space Venturef0rth and handed over the reins to Marvin Weinberger last fall, said he wants to work on a new company.
“Unfortunately there just wasn’t the bandwidth to do that when I was running DreamIt Health day-to-day,” he wrote in a text message. “I’m taking some time to think about and explore what I might start, or what I might join.”
Menschik founded and ran health IT company HxTechnologies for nearly a decade before opening Venturef0rth.
Barsh was most recently working as an advisor to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, focused on entrepreneurship and innovation. DreamIt has a close relationship with CHOP — the hospital was one of DreamIt’s early “OpenCanvas” partners, a program that helps identify spinout startups within a larger organization. (Barsh is an advisor to one of those spinouts: Haystack Informatics.) Former DreamIt Ventures Philly managing partner Patrick FitzGerald also recently left DreamIt to lead entrepreneurship at CHOP.
