Ticketleap is rolling out its new IRL networking app at Philly Tech Week

Ticketleap VP of Product Beah Burger-Lenehan explains Met (and shares her own #PTW15 game plan).

This is a guest post by Ticketleap VP of Product Beah Burger-Lenehan.

Name: Beah Burger-Lenehan
Neighborhood: Lansdowne (not Lansdale)
Job: VP of Product at Ticketleap
Side projects: Met is sort of a side project for Ticketleap, but it’s my main squeeze. Also, teaching a Product Management class for Girl Develop It Philly and cheering on (and learning from) the Philadelphia 76ers.
Philly Tech Week is going to feel a little different to me and my team this year. For the past few months, we’ve been working really hard on a new project: an app called Met. (Editor’s note: Sweet URL.)
Here’s the idea: If you want to build something great, you have to step out from behind your computer screen and go talk to people. Met is kind of like a Fitbit for these connections: it rallies your team around this offline practice and, in doing so, bolsters the health of your business. So far, we’ve restricted the pilot to a small number of handpicked startups.
But (*drumroll*) we want to open up the beta to all early adopters and tech community builders attending Philly Tech Week this year. Here’s why we couldn’t resist the opportunity:

  • You, as a beta tester, will help make Met better with your feedback.
  • Met, as a source of data on how and why we connect with each other, can help improve the Philly tech community.
  • And, most importantly, Met can help you get the most out of your Philly Tech Week by making every connection count.

So, if you want join the ranks of early adopters (sorry, iPhone users only for now), sign up at m.et and we’ll fast track your access so you won’t miss out any any sweet sweet Metworking opportunities during #PTW15. Or, better still, come find us at one of the events below and we’ll onboard you on the spot.
(One more thing: If you want to find out which Philly locals are the best PTW people-connectors, follow @metworking. Throughout the week, we’ll tweet the highest Metworking accomplishments of our fine beta users.)

1. Fuel up for Philly Tech Week

Events that facilitate me walking around and talking to people with a beverage in hand are exactly my speed. (Plus I want to check out this new Fishtown La Colombe that all the kids are raving about). (Friday, April 17, 8-10 a.m.)

2. Philly Startup Crawl

See above. Also Ticketleap is one of the host locations. Hit us up early — doors open at 4 p.m. — and then head east towards Dilworth Park for the Arcade. This is the perfect time to get your shiny new Met account (you brave soul) and then Metwork the night away. (Friday, April 17, 4-8 p.m.)

3. The Rad Awards

There must have been a misunderstanding because somehow I got nominated for an award. That aside, sounds like it’s going to be a pretty sweet event; maybe I’ll meet Dom Streater — fingers crossed! My team is threatening to flip tables if I don’t win (which would definitely be worth the price of admission). (Saturday, April 18, 7-10 p.m.)

4. Girl Develop It Rise and Shine

The Girl Develop It gang is the tops, right? If you’ve been a laggard and still don’t have Met on your iPhone, this would be a good opportunity to fix that. (Tuesday, April 21, 7-9 a.m.)

5. Media Track Day

Sarah and Bob from my team will be hitting this one hard (I can’t make it myself). You’ll recognize Sarah and Bob because they’ll be the highly alluring individuals wearing dashing “Have we m.et?” T-shirts. (Wednesday, April 22, 6:30-8:30 p.m.)

6. Philly New Technology Meetup – Food & Tech

I’ve been known to visit a Philly New Tech Meetup now and then. This time I’m especially looking forward to testing Met’s new meetup integration (Met searches the attendee list of the Meetup you’re at so you can capture your new connection without asking her to spell her last three times). (Wednesday, April 21, 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m.)

7. PSL Entrepreneur Expo

This was one of my favorite events last year; lots of people to talk to and food carts to try. A highlight was showing Mayor Nutter how to create his Selfie ticket — what a sport, we should extend his term. (Wednesday, April 22, 7-10 p.m.)
