In the new Technical.ly Podcast: two interviews on recruiting for jobs in 2015. One of them from a Brooklyn entrepreneur.
Superconnector Steve Dean had been helping people find jobs all over the country, but felt like the recruiting business had perverse incentives, pushing both sides in a job match to lie. So he looked for a way to incentivize honesty. He tells the story of how, three years ago, he started working on a way to make that happen.

Dean’s site, Jobsuitors, which we covered here last year, looks at culture, coworkers and what you care about during your day at work. Dean says that employers have told him they’ve been encouraged to see matches as soon as they sign up.
Dean believes that recruiters and employers haven’t been asking the tough questions because they didn’t think potential employees would want to be honest about those topics. Dean found that people were happy to be honest about the tough questions on OkCupid and they’ve also been willing to do so on Jobsuitors.
“We’ve seen a nice distribution of answers,” Dean said, of employers, in answering questions about workplace culture. They don’t all pretend like you should expect to work a basic 40-hour week, for example.
The new ep comes ahead of Technical.ly job fairs in three of its markets. NET/WORK is coming to Philadelphia (Feb. 10), Baltimore (Feb. 19) and Delaware (March 12).
