WHO’S GETTING FUNDED?

Benjamin Franklin Technology Partners announced its latest round of funding — $1.9 million for 11 companies — and those companies include Chester County-based family planning platform AboutOne, Bristol-based canvassing mobile app Grassroots Unwired, mobile backend Cloudmine and sales startup Ajungo. Interestingly, BFTP did not include investment amounts like they usually do and only provided a top-level look at how the $1.9 million was allocated. Just more than half of the money went into new companies, while the other went into follow-on funding for previous BFTP companies (like Cloudmine and Grassroots Unwired).

WHO’S MAKING MOVES?

IntroNet, the startup from Mike Krupit that aims to make email intros better, was featured on Product Hunt, the buzzy Reddit-like product launch site, this week. Krupit also enlisted the Philly Startup Leaders listserv to help upvote him. Here’s how signups for the service grew this week, according to Krupit’s tweet.

Nick Eubanks, VP of West Chester retailer and manufacturer Traffic Safety Store, helped lead the development and design of a new ecommerce startup called School Supplies. While he’s still at Traffic Safety Store full-time, Eubanks is working on School Supplies as an SEO advisor, he told us. Its founders are based in Toronto and approached him on the on-demand business advice site Clarity.fm.

Drama Fever, the NYC-based Netflix for foreign entertainment, has expanded its office in Narberth, Pa., developer Yash Prabhu told us. The office, which is mostly tech and project management folks, is now two floors and houses about 15 people.

Thoughtbot, the Ruby on Rails dev shop that opened its Philly office this summer, is now working out of Center City coworking space CityCoHo, CoHo’s Drew Foulkes confirmed for us.

WHO’S GETTING BUZZ?

Girl Develop It organizer Yasmine Mustafa’s pre-launch wearable tech startup, Roar, was featured in the Philadelphia Business Journal. Mustafa plans to launch a $125,000-$150,000 crowdfunding campaign in the fall.

VenturePact, the outsourced product development marketplace we told you about last week, was featured in the Daily News.

Scholarship finding app Scholly was featured on a list of best apps for college students and grads.
