The developers behind Engine Room want to be known as the web dev team that builds impenetrable bunkers. Digital ones, that is.
Launched this spring, the web dev firm says its specialty is security. Founder Dennis Egen, 35, of Fairmount, spent four years as a partner at Wilmington, Del.-based digital agency The Archer Group, where he worked with banks and retail chains and learned about data security and secure software development. He wanted to focus and expand on those services, so he opened his own shop.
Also: Engine Room is hiring an application developer.
Egen’s clients are mostly “large cap” public companies, including some in the food industry and manufacturing industry, like Valley Forge, Pa.-based CertainTeed.
Aside from building secure websites, Engine Room also does “penetration testing,” or when a company tries to break into a website and then offers fixes if it’s successful.
Egen leads a team of three other employees. They work out of Center City coworking space Benjamin’s Desk.-30-
