The Philadelphia Police Department received a $84,780 grant from the Philadelphia Police Foundation to pay for the installment of recording equipment in detectives’ interrogation rooms, the Philadelphia Daily News reported.
The department installed cameras in the Homicide Unit this March, as part of a package of reforms announced by Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey in late 2013. This grant, from Macy’s, Tyco Integrated Security and other businesses, will cover the cost of installing cameras in the city’s six detective divisions across the city.
