Apply to PhillyDevCamp: 5-week ‘bootcamp’ for young devs

Zivtech and Neomind Labs want to train Philadelphia’s young developers.

With a $24,000 grant from the City of Philadelphia‘s Startup PHL program, the two web dev firms are launching PhillyDevCamp, a five-week developer bootcamp for graduating high schoolers up to recent college grads. Participants must have attended schools in the region (Philadelphia and its surrounding counties, South Jersey or Delaware).

The goal is to train developers to be ready to join local tech companies. It’s one answer to the constant tech problem of hiring and developing a STEM pipeline. They’ll learn HTML/CSS, javascript, PHP, SQL, Drupal, and Ruby on Rails, according to the release, and PhillyDevCamp will host a private jobs fair once the program ends.

Zivtech is a Center City web dev company that focuses on open source software like Drupal, Node.js and Sass, while Neomind Labs focuses on Ruby on Rails and Javascript.
