Cops test new crime-fighting gadgets, talk tech at international police conference

In one room at the Convention Center, cops learned how to use Google Maps in police work. In another, they shot Tasers at aliens.

That was the scene at the International Association of Police Chiefs Conference, which came to town Saturday and wraps up today. The conference featured a Technology and Information Sharing track among its more than a dozen tracks and showcased more than 750 exhibits with the latest in police gadgets, including crowd control devices and mobile command centers.
