Corinne Warnshuis realizes her name is difficult to pronounce. (Here’s a tip: it’s Core-in Warns-heiss, like heist without the t.)

Corinne joined this month Technical.ly as events coordinator, coming from the world of public media. In 2011, she started at WHYY with Radio Times, and then moved on to a position coordinating events and outreach in the community relations department. In that role, she passionately organized a free community documentary screening series, among other things. She has also previously contributed as a freelance writer for NewsWorks and Flying Kite.

Before Philadelphia, she grew up surrounded by endless strawberry fields in Salinas, California. After a brief stint writing obits for her hometown newspaper after high school, she moved to the redwood forest to study sociology and film & digital media at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

She now enjoys living in South Philly with her partner and two cats. In her spare time, she co-organizes Girl Develop It Philly, sews sometimes, and wishes she took advantage of the bowling alley around the corner more often.

Corinne looks forward to deepening her engagement with the amazingly diverse and innovative Philly tech scene. Say hi if you see her at an upcoming event or tweeting about how excited she is for #ptw13 @corinnepw.
