The Nutter administration and the city’s firefighters union just can’t get along.
Social media was the topic of a recent dispute in the messy back-and-forth between the two, the Philadelphia Daily News reported earlier this month. The firefighters union was upset after Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers issued a memo on social media guidelines.
“They are messing with people’s First Amendment rights and freedom of speech,” said Bill Gault, president of firefighters union Local 22. “The Commissioner and the Mayor can’t take criticism.” [more]
The union also used its Twitter account to speak out against the new social media policy, as Metro pointed out.
The Nutter administration told the Daily News that all city employees follow this policy.
