This week: A very timely meetup focused on open data, happy birthday to Build Guild and a food-oriented fundraiser at new coworking space Benjamin’s Desk.

Open Data in Action (joint meeting with Hacks/Hackers and PhillyPUG)The speaker list is stacked for this open data meetup. To name a few, there’s Mark Headd, the city’s newly hired Chief Data Officer, who will talk about the city’s open data plans, Neil Budde of the Philadelphia Public Interest Information Network, who will speak about the future of OpenDataPhilly and Tamara Manik-Perlman of Azavea, who will talk about the company’s recent voter ID analysis. Juliana Reyes began as lead reporter at Technical.ly Philly in July 2012. Previously, she was a city services beat reporter for the Philadelphia Daily News, as part of a project called “It’s Our Money.” She is learning to drive, learning to bike (in the city) but is an expert at taking SEPTA. She grew up in North Jersey and Manila, Philippines but she left the tropics for Bryn Mawr College, where she majored in linguistics. She now lives in West Philly.
