This afternoon, Issa Rae, the writer, director, producer, and lead actress in the nationally known web series, “Misadventures of an Awkward Black Girl” is coming to the Kimmel Center for what promises to be a conversation almost as awkward as the series.

The event, “An ‘Awkward’ Conversation with Issa Rae,” will feature an interview with journalist Penny Wrenn as well as an introduction from Wilco Electronic Systems executive vice president Brigitte Daniel.

“Issa is a young, black woman, entrepreneur, tech content creator, bringing more and more people of color online to watch her shows,” Daniel said in an email to Technically Philly. “…the content is the driver of adoption, particularly within minority communities.”

Rae is coming to Philly to participate in the Art Sanctuary’s 28th Annual Celebration of Black Writing.

The interview, which starts at 4:00 pm, will be broadcast live on 900 am WURD and streamed live on PhillyCam.
