Nominations are now open for the first Project of the Year award, which will be granted to the best software developed in 2011 as part of the 7th annual Philadelphia Emerging Technologies for the Enterprise (ETE) conference.

The conference is held annually by Chariot Solutions, the Fort Washington-based software development consulting firm.

“Chariot Solutions is proud to sponsor the Project of the Year Award to highlight how software development teams are an important component in helping organizations achieve competitive advantage, create efficiencies, or reach new markets,” said Mike Rappaport, the CEO of Chariot Solutions. “We hope to see this award continue to be given out for many years.”

The award winner will be announced at the conference on April 10, 2012. Full Disclosure, Technically Philly is a media sponsor of the event and was involved in early strategy for the award with Chariot, a former advertiser and current Philly Tech Week sponsor.

From the ETE web site, the “Project of the Year” criteria are as follows:

  • The project will have resulted in: significant cost savings, business efficiencies, a new product launch, or increased competitive advantage.
  • The team must have completed the project by 12/31/2011.
  • At least 60% of the team members must reside or be based within 50 miles of Philadelphia.
  • The project must represent effective use of software development budget to produce meaningful, lasting results for the business, stakeholders and employees involved in the project.
  • The project will have been executed without heroic sacrifice by the team members’ personal lives – we’re looking for signs of working smarter, not harder.
  • We’re looking for inspiration that might be replicable elsewhere, and for examples of great teamwork.
  • For the finalists, it is necessary for key players to be available for interview (either by phone or in person in the Philadelphia area) between 2/24/2012 and 3/5/2012.
