Two University of Maryland alumni walked away with a $50,000 cash prize after winning their alma mater’s Cupid’s Cup business competition on April 5.
Frederick-based Earth Starter LLC makes the “Nourishmat,” a “garden blanket tool … allows users to grow a bounty of vegetables and herbs without the otherwise necessary experience, time, and resources required by traditional gardening,” according to the Earth Starter website.

The competition itself is put on by the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland.
