Looking to do your holiday shopping from local artists and small businesses this year? Spaceboy Clothing in Wilmington is hosting a one-stop shopping event, the Market Street Swap, featuring 11 mostly Delaware vendors (plus Spaceboy’s own selection of Delaware t-shirts and vintage items) as part of the Art Loop on Friday, Dec. 6.

“Normally, the shop closes at 6 [p.m.],” said Spaceboy’s Carmela Dow. “For the Loop, we’ll be staying open and setting up tables for the vendors.”

Like other Loop events, the Market Street Swap is free to attend.

“It’s a way for people in the community to be exposed to local vendors, with the holidays coming,” said Dow.

Spaceboy, founded a decade ago by David Sanchez and Noah Merenda, relocated from its previous location to its current larger location almost directly across the street in the former home of Jerry’s Art-O-Rama and (briefly) The Living Room pop-up in March. The move allowed Spaceboy to host indoor events like live music and comedy in the same space that will be used for the Market Street Swap.

Spaceboy has for years been a big supporter of downtown Wilmington, including working with Downtown Visions to renovate what is now known as Humble Park near Delaware Technical Community College’s Wilmington campus.

The Market Street Swap vendors are:

  • Blisstory FTW
  • Wrecked Cotton Candy
  • Well Read Books/Diesign 1974
  • Cozy.Fa
  • CBD Hempworx (Melstansell)
  • Root Collection
  • Devs Butts
  • Delaware Vintage Goods
  • Melfunktion at the Junktion
  • Clay the Dude
  • NightChannelss/GoodEmilyTattoos

If you miss the holiday Market Street Swap, don’t worry — the plan is for the even to become a regular series at Spaceboy.
