The Mill is bringing live music to Theatre N

When you have access to a space like Theatre N, you’ve got to make the most of it.

The arthouse movie theater is located in The Nemours Building, a renovated 1936 art deco structure in Downtown Wilmington that was once owned by DuPont, but is now probably best known as the home of The Mill coworking space. While Theatre N as a cinema is run separately from The Mill, the two are connected — the space has even been called “The Mill Auditorium.”

On Thursday, Jan. 10, from 7 to 10 p.m., the space will make its debut as a music venue — thanks to The Mill’s growing staff.

The all-local lineup will feature the indie-folk quintet Earth Radio and bluesy Hoochi Coochi of Delaware and Philly’s psychedelic surf band The Bad Larrys.

Earth Radio percussionist and The Mill employee Dan Lord organized the show; Lord was recently hired by The Mill to take on some of Director of Operations Rebecca Parsons’ duties as she turns her focus to The Mill Concord (set to open this spring). Lord took up event planning as soon as he settled in, which Parsons said she encouraged.

And music has always been a part of The Mill: Lord’s first contact with the coworking space came when Earth Radio played a previous event there.

This isn’t meant to be a one-and-done event.

“If it goes well, we’re hoping to do live music every month,” Lord said.

Tickets for the show are $10 at the door, or $5 ahead of the show on the Theatre N website.
