Sarah McBride made history when she spoke at the 2016 Democratic National Convention, becoming the first transgender person to address a national political convention. Then, she wrote a memoir, Tomorrow Will Be Different: Love, Loss, and the Fight for Trans Equality, released this past March, with a foreword by Joe Biden.
Born and raised in Wilmington, the Cab Calloway graduate is now the national press secretary of the Human Rights Campaign, and was instrumental in the passage of Delaware’s Gender Identity Nondiscrimination Act, which became law in 2013.
On Sept. 25 from 5:30–7:30 p.m., NEWS4Women will host “A Conversation with Sarah and Sally McBride” at The Delaware Contemporary, featuring a program by McBride and her mother, Sally, followed by a Q&A session. Topics will range from personal relationships to the fight for equality for all women.
Tickets are $45, with proceeds benefiting the Delaware Center for Justice.
