June is Pride Month, and the City of Wilmington is sponsoring several events to celebrate, Mayor Mike Purzycki and Acting Director of Cultural Affairs Tina Betz announced on Friday.

Wilmington businesses are also encouraged to display a Delaware Pride decal, designed by Spaceboy Clothing on Market Street. The decals are free to participating businesses, and can be obtained at several places around the city, including the Mayor’s Office, The Mill, West End Neighborhood House, Oddity Bar, Downtown Visions, the Visitor’s Bureau and the NCCo Chamber.

Probably the most highly anticipated event is a special one-night-only showing of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which also happens to star Dan Sanchez, the mayor’s Digital and Social Media Manager and regional theater actor.

Made possible by a partnership with the Milburn Stone Theatre, the performance will be held at The Queen on June 8 at 8 p.m. and will benefit the Light Up The Queen Foundation’s Arts Education Program.
