This spring, Great Dames, a group that aims to and inspire women through events, is hosting a speaker series in Wilmington.
The speaker series will “Celebrate Women Firsts,” as it will showcase women who, per a release, “paved the path for other women.” Each of the three events will feature panels of women leaders in Delaware:

  • On March 20, Brew HaHa! founder Alisa Morkides and Chief Natasha Norwood Carmine (first woman chief of the Nanticoke Indian Tribe) will be a part of a panel on first women leaders.
  • On April 24, Andrea Taylor, owner of Woman’s Encore, will “discuss the value of women mentoring women” and offer a speed mentoring session.
  • On May 15, Vocal Impact Productions founder Dr. Laura Sicola and entreDonovan career clothing boutique founder Linda Farquhar will speak on a panel about first impressions.

“We are living amid considerable political and policy changes that impact women, so our focus on women is more important than ever,” said Great Dames President Sharon Kelly Hake in a statement. “We’re privileged to offer this incredible opportunity to showcase and stand strong for all women who have made significant accomplishments in our communities, both locally and globally.”
The events are to be held at Harry’s Savoy Grill in Wilmington. Hors d’doeuvres and soft drinks will be served, and a cash wine bar will be offered as well.
Tickets for the series are sold as a bundled offering, so you’ll buy your way to all three events with your purchase. All proceeds are to be donated to the Great Dames Fund. You can register by Feb. 24 to take advantage of the early bird rate of $115 for all three events. The price of the series after the early bird offer was not announced.
