Do you remember when James Collins was confirmed as Delaware’s chief information officer a couple of years ago after Jim Sills left his post? Well, Governor-elect John Carney has selected Collins for his new cabinet. Seems like Carney was a fan of the changes Collins made to his department under Gov. Jack Markell.
“His experience inside of state government and in the private sector also offers a unique perspective that will help us foster innovation here in Delaware, create jobs and grow our economy,” said Carney in a statement last week.
Collins has been working on integrating State efforts with the startup tech community in Delaware. One of his biggest efforts was drafting the Open Data Executive Order, which answered the prayers of civic hackers all over the state. Collins even managed to win over Sebastian James, a marketing professional who is currently mapping his move from Chicago to Delaware.
