Warning: it was very cute.

Four-year-old Zoe found a new home in Delaware last week, and her new mother, Deanna Pedicone, received some help from an unlikely assistant: Star Wars character Darth Vader. Why was Lord Vader there? Because he’s Zoe’s favorite character, according to a WHYY Newsworks report.
From the story:

In preparation for the big day, Pedicone, who lives in Newark, asked Zoe who she wanted to come to the ceremony. “She said Darth Vader. Darth Vader is her favorite character,” Pedicone said. So with the help of Garrison Carida, the all-volunteer Star Wars Imperial costuming group, Darth Vader showed up Friday afternoon in courtroom 2C at the New Castle County Courthouse.

At the time of adoption, little Zoe had been in the foster care system for 1,125 days at her time of adoption.
Here’s a video of the adoption ceremony from WHYY at the New Castle County courthouse.
