Earlier this week, Gov. Jack Markell released a proclamation to recognize coding bootcamp Zip Code Wilmington for its contributions.
What’s a proclamation? It’s just a permanent way for a government figure, such as a governor, to publicly recognize an individual, effort or organization for its efforts and contributions to the community.
Extremely honored to be recognized by @GovernorMarkell We will continue working hard to make Delaware proud! #proud #code #education #java pic.twitter.com/762u2JXS7s

This is not Zip Code’s first public recognition this year, as it was recognized by the Obama administration earlier this year for its work. The school also recently restructured its admissions process, as it shifted away from using CodeAcademy for entrance exams and began using HackerRank instead.
The school also recently experimented with joint meetups, as it recently co-hosted a meetup with civic hacking group Code for Philly.
It’s been a busy year for Zip Code as it also experienced new leadership under Melanie Augustin, this year.
