‘Tis the season for holiday parties.
Holiday parties offer a different way to network: there’s holiday cheer in the air, ugly sweaters and sometimes gift exchanges. We’re certain that you’ll find a holiday party to fit into within the Delaware tech scene — we dare you to try.

The one for a good cause

Coworking space The Mill is hosting a bash on Wednesday, Dec. 14, which will double as a fundraiser for the Parker family of Tilton Park, which suffered a house fire last month. The party will feature vendors such as community arts initiative Delaware Fun A Day, graphic artist Julia Jay Hardman, boutique tea company Levitea, designer Nicole Kristiana, graphic artist Objective Photography, cosmetic company Rocker Soaps + Herbals and artist Terrance Vann. Attending the event is free but donating an item or money is encouraged. RSVP here.

The one with the gift exchange

Barrel of Makers is hosting a gift exchange at 1313 Innovation on Monday, Dec. 19. It’s a holiday party but it’s also a gift exchange. The idea is to hang out, eat pizza and share cool stuff makers have created. Don’t worry if it’s a slightly imperfect lil gadget. That’s the maker spirit.

The one with a businessman who’s also a pianist

Technology Forum of Delaware is throwing a properly festive happy hour on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at the University and Whist Club right outside of Trolley Square in Wilmington. There will be exhibit tables available for those interested. The invitation boasts “holiday cheer, music and laughter” and a guest pianist, David Gates, president of Greenville consulting firm Gates and Company. Party starts at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 for non-members and free for members. RSVP here.

The one for members only

1313 Innovation is hosting it’s annual bash on Monday between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. There will be an adult hot chocolate bar, a gingerbread house-building contest among companies and an ugly sweater contest. But here’s the bad news: it’s closed to the public and open for members only. Still interested in going? Community manager Megan Anthony says you can e-mail her and request an invitation.

The one for New Year’s

On New Year’s Eve, The Mill wants you to get a head start on your party planning. The coworking space just announced its “Ring in NYE the Right Way” party, which will feature light fare, live music, drinks and a champagne toast at midnight. The party starts at 9 p.m. The $50 tickets will go live on the space’s website soon.
