Meet The Mill’s second employee: office manager Rebecca Parsons

As the coworking space continues to expand, founder Robert Herrera hires a helping hand.

The Mill has been up to a lot since opening in April. From starting a speaker series to turning Theater N into a cinema destination in downtown Wilmington, it’s a lot to handle for a leadership staff of one.
That’s where Rebecca Parsons comes in as the new office manager at The Mill.
Parsons, 23, arrived at the Mill earlier this year as a community member for her photography and event planning business, Ideal Impression. Like many entrepreneurs, Parsons is involved in many projects. In addition to running her own startup and managing day-to-day operations at The Mill, she is also signed to Wilhelmina, one of the most prolific modeling agencies in the industry, as a model.
Parsons hails from Ocean City, Md. She graduated from Loyola University Maryland with a degree in business administration. She landed in Wilmington because she was looking for a change of pace.
“I have always wanted to live and work in a city,” she explained.
As a part of her duties, Parsons will be working on events and membership management. She’s excited about the expansion of The Mill by the end of this year.
“My goal is to establish a staff that can help the Mill run smoothly and seamlessly. Since we’re expanding, we’re going to have a lot more membership action,” Parsons added.
Her staffing wishlist includes two or three more people by next year to help her manage the quickly rising volume of membership the coworking space has continued to experience this year.
She sees The Mill as a place that offers a unique opportunity for its members.
“Community is really stressed here, with such a variation of businesses and individuals, it’s really easy to network. The space itself lends itself to stopping and talking to someone and getting to know their business. … It makes coming to work fun,” said Parsons.
So the next time you head to the Mill and those elevator doors open to the fourth floor, Parsons will be the first face you see. Make sure you say hi.
