First State .NET will be discussing ASP.NET and webhooks at Tuesday’s meetup.
What are webhooks, you ask? “Webhooks allow a developer to set up a service to receive incoming messages,” explained meetup co-organizer Miguel Zakharia. “They’ve become popular recently because apps like IFTTT, Facebook and Slack will use web hooks to provide integration points. For example, I set up an integration for Slack that allows an employee to reset a client’s password simply by typing a command in one of the chat rooms.”
Magic.
With the help of co-organizers Mike Wilkins and Michael Rosenheim, First State .NET has been championing the Microsoft .NET framework in Delaware by creating a forum for developers and IT professionals.
But what is ASP.NET? Well, it’s an an open source web framework. It helps programmers build web applications and services.
I asked Zakharia why ASP.NET was chosen in particular. He said, “It has a large support community since it’s so popular in the largest companies. There’s a lot of reference material which makes it easy to solve any issues a developer might get stuck on.”
The meetup will feature guest speaker James Chambers, who will talk about third-party signups via webhooks.
Chambers is a Canadian software developer who maintains a blog on programming.
The meetup will take place at 1313 Innovation on Tuesday night. RSVP below.
