Factory Berlin has high hopes for the First State. “I believe Delaware can be the next important place in the world to do business,” said CEO Udo Schloemer.

Wilmington’s incubator community is getting a new member — this time from Germany.
Factory Berlin’s first employee has just relocated to The Mill and has been working out of the space for the past month. Wilmington is Factory Berlin’s very first location in the United States.
So what made this area attractive to the industry-agnostic incubator? Well, 67 percent of Fortune 500 companies are registered here, making it a hub of international innovation. There’s also the close geographic proximity to major business centers on the East Coast. The city is also affordable, making it attractive for young companies.
“I believe Delaware can be the next important place in the world to do business,” said Factory Berlin CEO and founder Udo Schloemer.
Factory Berlin says it plans to host a German-American startup summit later this year.
