Delaware’s U.S. Congressional guys — U.S. Sens. Tom Carper and Chris Coons; and U.S. Rep. John Carney (all D-Del.) — are hosting a grant fair Monday in Dover.
They’ve put it together to help Delawareans better understand the grant process and connect them with state and federal agencies, private businesses and nonprofits. There will also be workshops.
“The small business owners, entrepreneurs and nonprofits will hear from experts and grantors who will help them explain the sometimes complex process and put them on the right path to gaining federal funding for their organizations,” Coons said in a release.
Here are the workshops:

  • An overview of grants.gov with Ed Calimag, senior program adviser for the website
  • Grant Writing 101 with Patrick Patterson, national grant writing training expert
  • Grant Writing Best Practices, with Bill McGowan, USDA State Director for Maryland and Delaware

The event will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the MLK Student Center at Delaware State University, and it’s free to attend, although because workshop spaces are limited, RSVPs are requested to Rep. Carney’s office at 302-691-7333 or DEGrants@mail.house.gov.
A bunch of funders will be at the fair:

  • U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
  • Discover Bank
  • U.S. Small Business Administration
  • Faith Based Nonprofit Resource Center
  • U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD)
  • WSFS Bank
