This ‘Data Privacy Trailblazer’ is giving a free talk at UD Feb. 10

If you have any questions on cybersecurity, Edward McAndrew’s your man.
He’s a partner in the privacy and data security, litigation and investigation groups at law firm Ballard Spahr LLC and spent almost a decade as a federal cybercrime prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Offices for the District of Delaware and the Eastern District of Virginia.
After the February 2013 shooting in the New Castle County Courthouse, he was part of the team that secured the first U.S. convictions for cyberstalking resulting in death. And the National Law Journal recently named McAndrew a “Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Trailblazer.”
He’s also the speaker in the first installment of a free series hosted by the University of Delaware’s Cybersecurity Initiative and Institute for Public Administration.
McAndrew’s talk, called, “Navigating the Digital World in an Evolving Cyber-threat Landscape,” is Feb. 10.
Here’s what he’ll cover at the event:

• Implications of the evolving cyber-threat environment for businesses and individuals
• The anatomy of a typical hack
• Key cybersecurity and cyber-compromise points from hackers’ and law enforcement’s perspectives
• The challenges of business planning with cyber threats
• Strategies for safely interacting with governments, business partners, consumers, employees, shareholders and the media
• Key points on personal privacy and digital security

The following two installments, with speakers Rajesh De and James Nolan, respectively, will be March 16 and April 6.
