According to a report from WMDT 47, Gov. Jack Markell is open to the idea of implementing body cameras on police in Delaware.
In a statement to 47 ABC, Governor Markell’s office says they still have important questions, such as, “understanding the quality of the cameras available (this is still a new technology), privacy issues around the use of cameras in homes, the cost of their use and how much value they add to the tools our officers already have. The State Police is considering all of that right now.”
Currently, WMDT reports, Delaware State Police troopers have in-car cameras on most patrol cars, which Markell’s office says, “is an important step toward addressing the same issues.”
