Not all careers in tech are tied to building hardware or creating software. One case in point — the myriad designers who determine the way we humans interact with technologies. But there’s a symbiotic relationship between the creation of the tech and its design, so much so that designers might find themselves asked, or expected, to be able to code.

As a designer in 2017 — should you be ready and willing to code? And if so, what might your career look like?

Join the D.C. chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) for a panel discussion on coding and design. Panelists will include:

John Maeda of Automattic will moderate.

The panelists will “share their insight on the impact that tech experience makes in navigating the digital space,” organizers write. “Whether you’re thinking about dabbling in code or are already waist-deep, this conversation will provide insights into how to gain coding confidence and take your experience to the next level.”

The afternoon discussion will take place April 11 at CHIEF in Dupont.
