The advent of a new federal administration has various stakeholders and commentators trying to ascertain what President Donald Trump will mean for small business and tech entrepreneurship. Will his administration, as some have suggested, actually prove good for innovation? Or will startups suffer under policies like his immigration ban?

In any case, startups need someone on their side.

This is where Engine comes in — a research and advocacy organization founded in 2011 “to harness the political power of the startup and tech communities.” Engine is based in San Francisco, but operates out of 1776 here in D.C. And the small team behind this policy powerhouse is growing.

Engine is looking to hire a policy counsel — a tech and policy wonk who is ready to jump in and formulate Engine’s positions on issues as they arise. For the right candidate, the job offers “a front row seat as events unfold on both the policy stage and the technology stage,” as Monica Laufer, a former Hill staffer who now works at Engine, put it.
