APX Labs is now Upskill

The rebranding better reflects its “mission of elevating the impact of people in the modern industrial workplace.”

Herndon, Va.-based APX Labs announced on Monday that it has changedĀ its name to Upskill. According to a press release, the name change is meant to “better reflect its mission to elevate the impact of people in the connected industrial workplace.”

Recall, the newly-renamed Upskill builds enterprise software to bring augmented reality to the manufacturing space. Read our profile from last October to find out what that means.

In contrast to manufacturing being overtaken by automation, Upskill’s Skylight technology upgrades human capacity in the manufacturing workplace.

“Our Skylight platform on wearable devices enhances human skills, augmenting workers’ capabilities and allowing them to perform their job functions faster and more accurately than ever before,” cofounder and CEO Brian Ballard said in a statement. “We strive to enable every industrial hands-on worker to be empowered and connected to drive value from the factory to the warehouse to the jobsite, and our new name better reflects that.”
