Local mapping company seeks office dog for daily snuggles and cuteness.

That’s right, professional dogs of D.C., Mapbox wants you. Encourage your human to apply as well.

Listing a job for an office dog on the jobs area of your company website is, well, not a traditional recruiting strategy. However, for Mapbox, it is one way to communicate company culture and values. “We’re generally a bunch of animal aficionados over here and we typically have at least one dog running around daily,” Cathryn Stickel, who works in recruiting at the company, told Technical.ly. “It came up rather naturally when we were redesigning the jobs page. The Office Dog listing is intended to be purely fun, and to hopefully draw more humans with dogs to apply!”

Speaking of which, the 14th Street-based company has a bunch of openings right now. Savvy writer who loves maps? Apply to be the editor of communications. Designer extraordinaire? They’re also hiring a head of design.

After a busy 2016, stock video footage firm VideoBlocks is looking to keep growing in 2017.

This will mean a new office and significant hiring — CEO TJ Leonard told Technical.ly the company, which currently has 77 employees, plans to hire 13 people by June and another 15 in the second half of 2017. Key positions available? Product designers. “We serve the creative community, so design matters,” Leonard told Technical.ly.

Donna Harris may be stepping down from her co-CEO position at 1776, but the 15th Street-based incubator is not slowing down on hiring. The company is hiring a product manager based in D.C. and a “startup champion” to work “on the front lines” in Crystal City. 1776 also has a bunch of internship options available — they’re unpaid but students can arrange for college credit.

Fresh off that $30 million Series D raise, Optoro is looking to hire in a number of roles. Many of the open opportunities are for more senior management level hires — be Optoro’s senior devops engineer, for example, or a senior UX designer.

Looking for something in IT systems management? Love the PBS NewsHour? D.C.’s public television station, WETA, is looking to hire tech support for the newsroom.

Haven’t found what you’re looking for just yet? Never fear — there’s more. We at Technical.ly are bringing our NET/WORK jobs fair back for a second year on March 29. The lineup of hiring companies is still TBA, but if last year is any indication it’ll be a great event.
