Next week San Francisco-based crowdfunding giant Indiegogo is coming to the District. And they’re teaming up with General Assembly to offer you a free lesson in crowdfunding.

Whether it’s to raise seed money or to help generate an audience for a new product (pro-tip: crowdfunding is best as marketing), there’s no shortage of ways crowdfunding can be used to jumpstart a business. And with Forbes predicating that equity crowdfunding will become a major force, it’s a trend worth learning about.
On Thursday, representatives from Indiegogo will present together with GA on what it takes to launch a successful crowdfunding campaign, and how to use a campaign as an opportunity to build a community.
The two-hour event starts at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 10. It will be held on the eighth floor of GA’s downtown office on 15th Street. There is no admission cost, but an RSVP is required.
