Watch this Brooklynite explain how to make edible soft robots

Greenpoint’s Kari Love has been working on soft, edible robotics recently, explaining her work in a recent talk at the 33rd Chaos Communications Congress.

“One of the coolest results of this exploration has been the chemical and structural overlaps between the rubbers and plastics we use for projects like the Glaucus, and the candies you’ll find at any convenience store,” she writes. “You’ll find colloids, molecular lattices, and gels across both seemingly unrelated territories.”

Many of the edible robotics that exist currently are in the medical field, and serve as a way to get cameras or sensors into a patient’s body, Love explained in the talk.

Love is a member of Super-Releaser a team of designers, artists and engineers working on medical devices and soft robotics manufacturing. She also is a member of the Downtown Brooklyn hacker collective NYC Resistor.
