SecondMuse is in the innovation business.
Now, the outfit that was behind NASA’s International Space Apps Challenge (which we’ve covered in Philly and D.C.) and Al Jazeera’s first hackathon is hiring an “open innovation associate” that can be based in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia or New York. Preferably New York, the job description reads. It’s a five- to six-month contract that could lead to more work with SecondMuse.

“We are expanding,” SecondMuse’s cities director Katey Metzroth tells us. “Growing work around urban manufacturing in NYC and for the next round of NASA Space Apps.” (A continuation of the manufacturing trend we’ve been seeing in Brooklyn.)
Metzroth helped design NYCEDC’s Next Top Makers hardware startup incubator, another one of SecondMuse’s projects and one that featured several Brooklyn companies, with Imagination in Space’s Greg Spielberg.
The New York team doesn’t have a distinct HQ. It works around NYCEDC or “bops around to meetings with partners and friends at ImpactHub, Kickstarter or Autodesk,” Metzroth wrote in an email. Most recently, it’s been working out of Manhattan’s AlleyNYC coworking space with Spielberg.
SecondMuse has one team member, Elyssa Dole, who lives in Brooklyn.
