We’re asking where prominent Baltimore tech leaders will be during Baltimore Innovation Week, an open calendar of more than 50 events running Sept. 25 to Oct. 3. Find the full calendar here.

Scott Burkholder is a decade-long advocate for Baltimore’s arts/tech intersection.
He heads the business side of the Baltimore Love Project and is just finishing a stint at the Baltimore Museum of Art.
As someone who represents multiple communities, Burkholder is already feeling the energy for Baltimore Innovation Week 2015 in unexpected places.

Here are the #BIW15 events that have piqued Burkholder’s interest:

1. Kickoff Festival with The Gathering
  • Friday, Sept. 25, 5-10 p.m., Power Plant Live!

Starting the week of exciting events, the Kickoff Festival will feature The Gathering food truck coalition, live entertainment and cool tech on display. Come celebrate the start of Baltimore Innovation Week 2015 at this big outdoor festival.

2. MakeScape 2015
  • Saturday, Sept. 26, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., 1400 Greenmount Ave.

This first annual MakeScape hosted by Open Works will serve as a celebration to the space’s construction kickoff and feature vendors, tours of the facilities and lots of different activities.

3. Continental Bridge 30 Years of Cultural Exchange
  • Saturday, Sept. 26, 12-8 p.m., Creative Alliance

In honor of Baltimore’s 30-year anniversary with sister cities Xiamen, China and Rotterdam, Netherlands, Baltimore’s Creative Alliance is hosting a day of workshops and performances. The opening reception for an exhibit commemorating the anniversary will be held in the evening.

4. Rise of the Rest: Pitch Competition
  • Monday, Sept. 28, 4-6 p.m., Baltimore Museum of Industry

Eight of Baltimore’s most innovative startup companies will get the opportunity to pitch Steve Case, cofounder of AOL and current CEO of Revolution, with a $100,000 investment prize going to the winner. Prior to this event, community leaders will be taking a private tour of Impact Hub Baltimore which will be opening this fall.
After the pitch competition concludes, there will be a Happy Hour Startup Celebration with the judges, participants and local leaders.

5. Ignite Baltimore
  • Tuesday, Sept. 29, 6 p.m., Falvey Hall

For the third year, this longtime anchor of Baltimore’s creative community will be apart of Baltimore Innovation Week. Listen to 16 speakers from many different disciplines present their big ideas about the future.

6. Beta City
  • Thursday, Oct. 1, 1:00-10:30 p.m., Betamore and City Garage

Technical.ly, Plank Industries and Startup Maryland have organized this daylong event where entrepreneurs will be pitch investors in the afternoon. By the evening, the biggest party of the week will take place at City Garage.

7. #Failfest
  • Friday, Oct. 2, 4-6 p.m., Spark Baltimore

Failure is not an option. Except when you grow from it. Come hear how others have failed and how those failures have made them who they are today. This event will have you laughing and learning from other Baltimore entrepreneurs and if your curious as to what that means, take a look at last year’s recap.
