Game design studio Planet iO Entertainment‘s new game, “Ancient Axes: Heroes on Paper,” is inspired by the “successful couch and arcade co-op” games from the 1980s like “Gauntlet” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” according to its Kickstarter page.
To finish the game, however, the studio needs $8,000.

Players, in either single-player or multiplayer mode, control a team of axe-throwing heroes on a quest to defeat monsters. According to Planet iO’s Kickstarter page, the original iteration “of ‘Ancient Axes’ was created in 2008 by a collaboration of game design students from the University of Baltimore and the Image Campus of Argentina.”
A demo of “Ancient Axes” is available, although all this reporter has been able to figure out is how to toss axes rapid-fire style by slamming down a computer’s space bar repeatedly.
