A couple of years ago, articles started popping up identifying a new hit in Silicon Valley: microdosing.
The stories detailed how tech workers who wanted a boost at work were turning to very small doses of LSD or psylocibin mushrooms. The psychedelic doses are sub-perceptual, meaning the effects aren’t usually evident like they are in a full trip. But it’s thought to be enough to increase creativity and energy, as well as reduce anxiety.
Fast forward to 2017, and microdosing is still around, and apparently spreading beyond San Francisco. Even moms are getting in on the trend.
On Friday, March 3, Baltimore-based Psychedelic Seminars is holding an event to look closer at microdosing. The event is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Impact Hub Baltimore.

Paul Austin, founder of microdosing resource The Third Wave, is set to cover the basics as well as the potential risks and benefits.
“Interest in microdosing draws from a large cross-section — from stay-at-home Moms to Silicon Valley CEOs to veterans struggling with PTSD,” Austin said via email. “Bringing these groups together — under one roof — is a powerful way to build community around these tools.”
