Former CRTC director joins Maryland Dept. of Commerce

Kris Valerio Shock's new mission: support the state's entrepreneurs and “strategic industries.”

Kris Valerio Shock is set to help the state build on strengths in key industries.
Shock was named senior director of the Maryland Department of Commerce’s Office of Strategic Industries and Entrepreneurship. In the role, she’ll head up a team of experts that’s looking strengthen the state’s position in manufacturing, education and innovation.
Shock most recently worked at Baltimore agency Exit10. From 2008-2015, she was executive director of the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council.
“The years Kris spent leading and supporting Maryland’s tech sector make her uniquely qualified to partner with businesses and organizations, assess industry needs, and make our state an even better place to do business,” Maryland Secretary of Commerce Mike Gill in a statement.
