Groove hires UK-based Jim Banks to lead paid media team

Banks will also help the digital agency expand its European presence.

Groove now has a transatlantic commuter among its ranks.
The digital agency recently hired UK-based Jim Banks to head up its paid media operation. He will be a regular presence in Baltimore, and also help to grow the company’s European presence, the company said.
Banks is a frequent speaker on paid media, which represents the digital marketing tools such as display ads, Google AdWords or promoted posts that cost money to display.
In 2000, Banks founded the paid search agency Web Diversity, which was acquired in 2006 by Think Partnership. He most recently worked as Global Head of Biddable Media at Cheapflights.
In a LinkedIn post about the new position, Banks said he has known Groove CEO Ethan Giffin for years, and was initially approached about the job a year ago.
