To close out Light City U’s side-by-side conferences on Health and Sustainability, a group of 10 startups took the stage for a pitch competition.
Startups in each category were vying to win $5,000 (presented in a giant check, of course), which was funded by the Warnock Foundation.
Here are the winners in each category:

Health

  • Tutela

The Emerging Technology Centers-based startup’s Karen Alder talked about NICULink, Tutela’s platform for linking communication between critically ill patients and caregivers. Fitness platform FitMango was the audience favorite, and Sickweather, Vheda Health and Quantified Care also stepped up.

Sustainability

  • Hungry Harvest

The win streak continues for Evan Lutz.
The Hungry Harvest founder who brought home a big deal from ABC’s Shark Tank also impressed on the Light City U stage by winning over both the investor judges and the audience. Folks in the crowd who may have remembered the ill-fated Haystack also likely took note of parking app Roadi, which is aimed at reducing emissions. Urban Pastoral, CBJ Energy and Zero Gravity also pitched.
